ShiftMaven Press Publishing Services Agreement

At ShiftMaven Press, we believe every story deserves a stage. When you choose a package with us, our job is to take your manuscript and shape it into a professional, publish-ready ebook. If you opt for Pro or Premium, we’ll also provide light editing, graphics, and launch support, ensuring your work receives the spotlight it deserves.

Most projects are completed within 2–6 weeks, depending on their length and our production calendar. Because these are digital services, all sales are final as described in this agreement. That said, we aim to make the process smooth, supportive, and worthwhile for your investment.

Your words are always yours. You keep full rights and royalties. When your ebook is complete, it may be featured in the ShiftMaven Press catalog, linking back to your Amazon or other sales listing so readers can buy directly from you. If you prefer not to be listed, you can request removal at any time.

ShiftMaven Press Publishing Services Agreement
This Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between ShiftMaven Press (“Service Provider”) and the client (“Author”) upon purchase of any publishing package or add-on service.

1. Scope of Services
   The Author agrees to purchase, and the Service Provider agrees to provide, the selected package or add-on service as described on the ShiftMaven Press Services page at the time of purchase.

Starter Package: Ebook formatting (PDF + ePub) with a simple Canva cover.
Pro Package: Starter Package services plus one (1) hour of light editing and two (2) post-ready graphics.
Premium Package: Pro Package services plus expanded promo kit, author bio page write-up, and up to two (2) revision rounds.
Add-Ons: Deep editing, additional graphics, and/or KDP walkthrough as listed.

Revisions (all packages)
Unless otherwise stated on the Services page at purchase, revisions apply to Service Provider-created deliverables (formatting, cover, graphics, promo items).
Revisions do not include rewriting the Author’s manuscript.
If additional revisions are requested beyond what is included, they may be billed at the Service Provider’s then-current rate.

2. Timeline for Delivery
   The Service Provider will deliver the completed work within an estimated 2–6 weeks from the date all required materials are received from the Author.
   Timelines depend on the project’s size and the current production calendar.
   Delays caused by the Author’s failure to provide required materials, approvals, or responses may extend delivery.

3. Digital Nature of Services; No Refund Policy; Remedy for Non-Delivery
   Due to the digital nature of all deliverables and the time-based nature of creative services, all sales are final and non-refundable once work begins.
   If the Service Provider fails to deliver the agreed deliverables, the Author’s sole remedy is correction/re-delivery of the deliverables. If re-delivery is not possible, the Service Provider may, at its discretion, issue a prorated refund for undelivered items.

The Service Provider will make every effort to deliver quality work and meet reasonable expectations; however, the Author understands that creative services are subjective and that not all preferences may be satisfied.

4. Author Responsibilities
   The Author is responsible for providing:
   A complete manuscript in a digital file format (Word, Google Doc, or similar).
   Any personal photos, bios, brand assets, or materials requested for covers, author pages, or promotional graphics.
   Timely responses to questions and approvals needed to complete the project.

The Author is responsible for the accuracy of manuscript content.
Service Provider is not liable for errors, omissions, or claims arising from the content of the Author’s work.

5. Ownership, Rights, and Permissions
   The Author retains all rights to their manuscript and final work.
   The Author represents and warrants that they own or have permission to use all text, images, quotes, fonts, and other materials provided to the Service Provider.
   The Author agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Service Provider from claims arising from materials the Author provided or directed the Service Provider to use.

6. Portfolio Display
   Service Provider may display completed projects (covers, interior spreads, graphics, and excerpts of design work) as part of the ShiftMaven Press portfolio and marketing unless the Author requests in writing that their project not be displayed.

7. Catalog and Promotional Use
   The Author agrees that ShiftMaven Press may, at its discretion, feature the Author’s book in the ShiftMaven Press online catalog or promotional materials.
   When featured, ShiftMaven Press will link to the Author’s chosen sales listing (for example, Amazon KDP or another retailer).
   This catalog feature is promotional only and does not transfer ownership rights or earnings.
   All sales and royalties are paid directly to the Author by the Author’s selected sales platform.

8. Platform and Results Disclaimer
   The Service Provider is not affiliated with Amazon, Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), or any retailer platform.
   The Service Provider does not control platform policies, approvals, category placement, account status, or listing decisions.
   The Service Provider does not guarantee book sales, rankings, reviews, income, or other results.

9. Limitation of Liability
   To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service Provider will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
   Total liability for any claim related to services under this Agreement will not exceed the amount paid by the Author for the specific package and add-ons purchased.

10. Right to Refuse Service
    ShiftMaven Press reserves the right to refuse service, including (but not limited to) projects involving unlawful, defamatory, hateful, or inappropriate material, or requests that fall outside the defined scope of services.
    If service is refused after purchase but before work begins, the Service Provider will cancel the project and may issue a refund at its discretion.

11. Publisher/Imprint Listing
    If the Services page and package selected require it, the Author agrees that books produced under this Agreement will carry the imprint name “ShiftMaven Press” in the Publisher/Imprint field on Amazon and other publishing platforms.
    This imprint listing is a branding label only and does not change the Author’s ownership, royalty rights, or control of their publishing accounts.
    The Author is responsible for uploading their own files to their KDP (or other platform) account unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

If the Author does not want to use the ShiftMaven Press imprint, the Author must notify the Service Provider in writing before work begins to discuss options. If no alternative is available for the selected package, the Author may request cancellation before work begins.

12. Acceptance
    By completing checkout, the Author acknowledges they have read, understood, and agree to the terms of this Agreement.

Add-On Terms

Deep Editing Add-On
If the Author purchases the Deep Editing Add-On, the following applies:
Deep Editing covers corrections and improvements in grammar, clarity, flow, and readability of the Author’s existing manuscript.
Editing is billed at $50 per hour, with a minimum of one (1) hour and a maximum of three (3) hours ($150).
Requests requiring work beyond this scope may be considered ghostwriting services, subject to a separate agreement with fees beginning at $1,500.
The Author is responsible for reviewing edits and approving final changes. ShiftMaven Press is not liable for the content or claims made in the Author’s manuscript.

KDP Walkthrough Add-On (if purchased)
The KDP Walkthrough is educational support to help the Author upload files and complete settings inside the Author’s own account.
The Author remains responsible for platform compliance and final submission decisions.
No approval, sales, or ranking outcomes are guaranteed.
